Conveyor Systems
Belt tracking, roller replacement, drive service. From warehouse sortation lines to heavy aggregate conveyors. We troubleshoot why a conveyor keeps going down — not just get it running again.
Field Triage
One seized roller can mistrack a belt. One worn drive chain can stop an entire sortation line.
Uneven loading, seized rollers, misaligned idlers, buildup, or a bad splice can all show up as the same symptom.
Diverts can fail from a worn cylinder seal, sticking solenoid valve, or sensor alignment issue.
Manual greasing schedules on chain conveyors need a checklist that reflects food-grade components and wet operation.
Belt tracking and adjustment, belt splicing and replacement, take-up adjustment, tensioning, and lagging replacement.
Roller and idler replacement, drive motor and gearbox service, chain drive maintenance, and conveyor frame alignment.
Powered roller service, MDR, chain-driven live roller, divert mechanisms, accumulation zones, and merge conveyors.
Photo sensors, Festo pneumatic valves, SMC cylinders, and Allen-Bradley PLC fault context before controls changes are made.
When KNAPP had disabled curve photo eyes because detection was unreliable, we cut the sensor windows larger to lower the photo sensors closer to the belt surface. Better package acquisition. They asked their PLC programmer to re-enable the curves after that.
The same weekly PM program covers Dürkopp Fördertechnik conveyor systems, Festo pneumatic valves, and SMC cylinders on the sortation line.
We check lubrication, frame alignment, bearing spec, sensors, pneumatics, and drive condition before closing the call.
Next time a Dürkopp belt mistracks, the record shows what fixed it last time.
When PLC programming changes are needed, we coordinate with a licensed controls specialist.
Conveyor Types
Flat belt, troughed, cleated. Light-duty package handling to heavy aggregate applications. We handle belt tracking, splice repair, drive maintenance, take-up tensioning, and lagging replacement.
Gravity roller, powered (live) roller, MDR, chain-driven live roller. Roller replacement, chain tensioning, motor service.
Divert mechanisms, merge conveyors, spiral conveyors, accumulation zones. Sensor calibration, motor and drive service, controls fault diagnosis — We coordinate with a licensed controls specialist for PLC work.
Common Questions
Continuous-operation conveyors: visual inspection weekly, detailed mechanical inspection monthly. That covers belt tracking, roller condition, drive alignment, and tension. Less critical or intermittent systems can stretch to quarterly detailed inspections. Weekly visual checks still recommended regardless.
Common causes: uneven loading, worn or seized rollers, misaligned idlers, material buildup on pulleys, bad splices. Adjusting a single idler might fix it. Or it could be a structural alignment issue across the whole frame. The fix depends on what we find when we troubleshoot it — not just which symptom showed up first.
Yes. We service both belt conveyors and powered roller systems including MDR (motor driven roller), chain-driven live roller, and sortation conveyors. For controls and PLC integration work, we coordinate with a licensed controls specialist.
Yes. We handle chain conveyor lubrication systems at a SE Calgary bottling plant, including evaluating continuous auto-lubrication solutions to replace manual greasing schedules. Food and beverage conveyors have different requirements — food-grade components, sanitary considerations, wet environment operation. The PM checklist reflects those constraints. We also service the pneumatic and sensor components on food-line conveyors, not just the mechanical side.
