Section 01 When to call

Where credential clarity matters

Confirm the trade lead and decision responsibility before repair, diagnostic or planned-maintenance work begins.

01

Decisions on site

Mechanical

A failed bearing may be the symptom. A sound mechanical scope can include checking alignment, contamination and loading before the replacement is selected.

Relational

The accepted scope should name who will make trade decisions at the equipment and what requires approval or another discipline.

02

Scale the crew

Mechanical

For shutdown maintenance and larger projects, confirm the required trades, roles and availability before the window is committed.

Relational

Relign will identify the proposed trade lead and any additional support for an accepted scope. Credentials and responsibilities should be checked before site work.

Section 02 Work scope

Section 03 Record design

Make the work verifiable

A useful record connects the accepted scope to the equipment, observations, measurements, work performed and open recommendations.

A

Document

Confirm whether the work will include structured notes, as-found details and equipment context.

B

Follow up

A well-structured record can support follow-up on similar drives, bearings and pneumatic systems without exposing customer details.

C

Build history

Procedures, parts cross-references and equipment history are useful only when the accepted record scope actually captures them.

Section 05 FAQ

Red Seal millwright FAQ

The questions that come up most often about the credential.

01What is a Red Seal millwright?

Red Seal is an interprovincial trade endorsement. Before work begins, confirm who holds the credential and who is responsible for trade decisions on the accepted scope.

02What is the difference between a millwright and a maintenance technician?

Titles do not establish the same credential or scope. Ask who holds a Red Seal endorsement, who will lead the work and which tasks require another licensed trade.

03Is the work led by a Red Seal millwright?

Yes. Relign’s mechanical work is led by an Alberta-certified Red Seal Industrial Mechanic (Millwright). Registered apprentices and qualified contractor-network trades may support the work when scoped; Relign does not imply permanent multi-trade staff or guaranteed capacity.

04Does a Red Seal millwright handle electrical work too?

Electrical and controls tasks may require a separately licensed trade. The accepted scope should identify who is responsible before work begins.

The ticket is the floor, not the ceiling.
